Vintage 60's Plaid Wool Cropped Jacket from Rice and Beans Vintage, $55
For owner Sarah Korsiak Cellier, the hunt is half the fun – the hunt for the best vintage and designer finds for her boutique Rice and Beans Vintage. She understands that vintage or designer does not necessarily equate good fashion, so she pays close attention to current styles and trends as she looks for finds for her store.
Sarah loves to see people take fashion into their own hands. Mixing vintage clothing with modern designer clothing is what it’s all about. In her online shop, she offers unique high-end vintage clothing, vintage designer clothing, and modern designer clothing for men and women at affordable prices.
In addition to clothing, you'll also find vintage shoes, designer shoes, and accessories by Chanel, Christian Dior, Pucci, St. John, Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry, Missoni, Gucci and many more.
Sarah believes that buying vintage clothing is a way of helping the environment. Apparently, it takes 2/3 lb. of pesticides to make a pair of jeans so if you want to be eco-chic, go vintage! Above and beyond that, Rice and Beans Vintage recycles everything and their office runs on green power.
We received the Vintage 60's Mod Plaid Wool Cropped Jacket from their Vintage Clothing collection. It retails for $55.
Wow, this jacket is heading towards its 40’s but it doesn’t look a day old! It would be my dream to age this way. Not only does it look practically brand new, the style is actually right on trend. May I repeat, this jacket is about 40 years old. The ages of my nieces and nephews combined doesn’t even come close to how long this jacket has been around.
Its designer is unknown but who cares, it’s absolutely fabulous. Maybe it was custom-made. Regardless, it didn’t have a tag with sizing information. Even if it did, it probably wouldn’t have helped since the size charts in use now are way different than those in the 60’s.
In order to determine whether the jacket will fit or not, we looked at the bust, length, and sleeve measurements provided, and wished upon a star that the jacket will fit me (the reviewer) when it arrived.
Wish granted - the jacket fit perfectly except for the sleeve length, a bit short. I took it to a local tailor and there was enough material in the hem to lengthen the sleeve. Twenty dollars later, I had a perfectly-fitting vintage jacket.
Everytime I wear it, I get compliments on it. The color combination is striking and the big gold buttons down the front add an elegant flair to this mod piece. It is absolutely adorable with a pair of high-waisted white trousers and high-heeled sandals of navy and green. This jacket is of course one-of-a-kind so you won’t be able to get the same one. However, I checked out the shop today and there’s a red plaid jacket that is to-die-for. You must see it for yourself. It’ll be absolutely gorgeous with a pair of wide leg jeans.
I wouldn’t wait if I were you since the vintage pieces are all one-of-a-kind. If the boss pops up in your office while you’re perusing the store, send a quick email to customer service. They will put items on hold for you while you finish your work (not that shopping isn’t work). You’ll function better knowing that no one else will be able to get to your goods while you’re slaving away, all the while thinking what else you need to buy to pair up with your new vintage find.
