'Feather' Shoulder Bag by Jumeau, $95

Hip, young and urban – these are my first impressions of a new line of bags under the label Jumeau.  The line has four collections – Now, Institution, Commando, and Green.

The Now Collection features bags that are trendy, cutting edge, and progressive.

The Institution Collection is geared towards the young, upwardly mobile professional looking for a functional, durable, and classically-fashion forward bag that looks good in the office as much as in a dinner meeting.

The Commando Collection is progressive, urban, and provides functionality and style to those always on the go.

The Green Collection is for those who want to look hot while being earth-friendly at the same time.

We received the ‘Feather’ Shoulder Bag from the Now Collection in a dark mustard color called ‘Harvest’.  It’s available in three other colors – Vanish which is a light yellow, Frog which is hunter green, and Lipp Stick which is a gorgeous red.  It retails for $95.

This bag is casual chic defined.  Made out of corduroy with antique bronze hardware, it looks so much better in person than it does in the photo which makes it look like a chubby bag.

It is in fact quite long, super stylish.  When I carry it on my shoulder, the bottom hits mid thigh.  The shoulder drop is about 14 inches and then the bag itself is another 17 inches long.  It is roomy and very deep.

The shape is very trendy, pear shape so it’s wider in the bottom.  The color is gorgeous, darker than in the photo and perfect for any season.

Functionally, I love the spaciousness of the bag, the key keeper chain, and the two deep pockets (front and back).

With regards to the spaciousness, it expands with the amount of junk I stuff into it because it doesn’t have a hard bottom.  If I’m carrying only a few things, the bag is thinner is appearance and bulks up only when it's fully stuffed.

The key keeper chain is incredibly useful.  I’ve never used one before.  Basically, it’s a short cord with a clasp on one end that holds my key ring.  I no longer have to launch a search operation whenever I need my keys!

The deep pockets in the front and the back are useful for carrying things you reach for a lot, such as your cell phone.  How many calls have you missed while you’re fumbling to unzip your purse, frantically searching for the phone?

I think we’ve established my lust for this bag.  However, the true test came when I had to take a trip to New York.  Which bag to take?  Well I chose this one and it certainly did not disappoint.  I needed a bag that was stylish yet large enough to hold my scarf, hat, and gloves so that I can wear them as soon as I get out of the airport without having to open my luggage.  This bag fit in perfectly in New York and I have a feeling it will be going on many trips with me.  By the way, it's fabulous with a bomber jacket like this one by Rock & Republic.

To top it off, it comes with a large sturdy dust cover.  It doubles nicely as a boot cover because it's thick enough that boot dirt stays inside the cover and away from clothes.  Also, the bag is fully lined which made it easy to clean on the inside.  I love those nuts 4 nuts sold in Times Square.  I always buy a bunch when I’m in NY.  Unfortunately, the brown bag holding the nuts had sugar in the bottom for some reason which of course spilled all over my purse.  I just turned the lining inside out, and that was that – sugar out and cleanliness back in.

Of course, as much as I love this bag, there are lots of others to choose from.  I would normally say, check out Jumeau's web site but it's still under construction.  If you’re interested in seeing all the bags in their collections or if you want to purchase this one, send an email to info@jumeaubags.com.  I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you.
