Cashmere YumYum Neck Warmer by TDM Design, $42

As a woman-owned business, TDM Design Inc. which designs and imports cashmere scarves and accessories from Nepal, strongly supports women working together in cottage industries.  Nepal is one of the poorest, least developed countries in the world with an unemployement rate of nearly 50% and a per capita income of less than $300.  TDM promotes economic empowerment of women in Nepal.

The Nepalese live their art.  Rather than being viewed from a distance, art is an inherent part of their daily environment.  In annual visits to this part of the world, TDM sees first hand the affect of the above-standard pay the women weavers receive from their company.  With the ability to manage their own incomes, these women are able to better care for their children’s health and education.  In addition, TDM created a special fund, contributing a percentage of all cashmere sales specifically for aiding in education and health care in the villages throughout Nepal.

With their buttery blissful cashmere listed as a must-have in Teen Vogue, TDM is poised to keep on growing their already expansive collection of YumYum neck warmers, scarves, wraps, throws, baby blankets, and silk masino scarves.

We received the Gunmetal and Sea Green neck warmers from TDM’s YumYum collection.  Featured in Harpers and available in over 200 stores throughout the U.S., these YumYums play up a new trend in scarves.  Hand made of 100% cashmere, this stylish accessory is insanely soft and delightfully warm.  It’s available in 13 fabulous colors and retails for $42.

If you like the warmth of scarves but hate the bulkiness around your neck, you will adore these little YumYums.  They’re quite chic and can be worn a number of different ways.  By the way, they close in the back with 2 magnetic snaps.

On really cold and windy days, I like to wear it all the way up with the fringes framing my face.  On not-so-windy days, I prefer to fold it down.  The sea green YumYum is actually great for the office.  The color is bright, perfect for daytime, and gives a plain white button down a gorgeous punch of color.  To really style it up, I love to wear it with a long pendant necklace.

The gunmetal YumYum is sophisticated in color.  It’s a beautiful complement to a red coat and is gorgeous day or night – anytime you want to throw it on.

On not-so-cold days, I like to wear my YumYums more as an accessory than a neck warmer.  I wear it folded in half leaving the top snap open and with the closures on the side of my neck, rather than in the back.  It’s a chic alternative to a necklace and great with v-neck long sleeve tees.

Owning these little babies in at least 2 colors is perfect – 1 color in the pastel side for daytime and 1 darker color for anytime.  Of course, with 13 colors to choose from, you may want to plunk your plastic down for more than 2 colors.  At a little over $40 a piece, you can definitely afford it!
