Ocean Mist Bracelet by It's A Girl Thing Designs, $50
There’s an old saying, ‘You either have it, or you don’t’. Jamie’Lee Baer undeniably has it. With two jewelry-making classes under her belt and no formal training in art or in fashion, she taught herself to design jewelry through instinct, feeling, intuition.
She recognizes that jewelry is a reflection of every woman’s personality and style. When she began designing in her home studio in the western suburbs of Boston, she had this in mind.
What emerged from her studio work is a jewelry label called It’s A Girl Thing Designs. Its corresponding online boutique is where you will find all her creations – from earrings, to bracelets, to necklaces, to watches, and jewelry pouches.
Whether it’s a simple everyday Swarovski crystal bracelet or an elegant strand of pearls, Jamie’Lee recognizes that we all want that classic, elegant look without the high-end price tag. She wants every woman to be able to afford her jewelry. She designs because she loves it and because she basks in joy when customers find her jewelry something they can ‘afford’ not to be without.
We received the Ocean Mist Bracelet from The Hampton Girl Collection. It’s a one-of-a-kind cluster bracelet with white, teal, and gold Swarovski pearls, crystals, and white foil Venetian glass beads. It measures 8 ½” long and has a stainless steel toggle closure. It retails for $50.
When I received the bracelet, I thought it was stunning. It looked even better in person because the teal pearl is lighter in color as compared to the photo. It’s really more baby blue than teal. It blended beautifully with the white and gold pearls, and the foil glass beads. The color combination is perfect and the look is classic. Yet it’s also very chic. The use of the foil beads and the varying shapes and textures of the pearls – some round and smooth, some oval and uneven – add an edge of trendiness to the piece.
When I noticed the toggle closure however, I was a bit apprehensive. The last toggle-closure bracelet I wore came undone unbeknownst to me. Whoever found it, lost it too, I’m sure of it. I swore never to wear a bracelet with such a closure again.
Then came this bracelet. I wanted to immediately put it on and shake it about to see if it will come undone. Immediately, I knew this bracelet would be different from the previous toggle bracelet I had. In fact, it took me a few seconds just to get the toggle through the opening to close it, so I knew it would not easily come undone. I was right. I didn’t lose this one and because of this, toggle bracelets are back on my good list.
So back to the gorgeousness of the bracelet, I’ve worn it so many times I can’t even remember how many. A knock out combination is to wear it with a grayish outfit. Try it with this sequin tank dress by Juicy Couture. It will put the ooh in ooh la la, I guarantee it.
