Star Struck Necklace by Designing Diva, $32.95
A confirmed geek, Randi Deckard was a clinical scientist who knew that this was not what she wanted to be when she grew up. Quite the opposite, what she really wanted to be was a jewelry artist.
With no formal training, she consumed information from books, magazines, and the internet to hone her skills. This is after some divine intervention through her friend who introduced her to beading. After learning many bead weaving techniques, she was hooked. From there, she learned wire wrapping and never looked back.
Completely addicted to beading, crocheting with wire, beadweaving, creating lampwork glass beads, making fused & dichroic glass, and metal smithing, Randi finally fulfilled what she wanted to be when she grew up – a jewelry artist. Her label? Designing Diva - for women who want to express who they are with jewelry that is as unique as they are. Derived from the Latin word which means goddess, Diva is what Randi wants every woman who wears her jewelry to feel like, to celebrate not being afraid to stand out and shine.
Designing Diva Jewelry offers original and limited edition pieces using sterling silver, vermeil, and 14k gold-fill accented with semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, fused glass, and crystals. Custom design is also available upon request.
We received the limited edition Star Struck necklace from their Gemstone-Pearl Collection. It’s a pink druzy pendant wire wrapped with sterling silver, hanging from an 18” long chain with a lobster clasp closure. It retails for $32.95.
If you’ve never thought you can afford designer jewelry, think again. At the price it’s offered at, this necklace is a certified steal. Not to mention that it came packaged in a pink jewelry box inside a pink vellum purse - sweet! The druzy pendant is about an inch long and the width is a little over 1/4”. If you’re wondering what a druzy is, it’s tiny quartz crystals that form within or on the surface of other stones.
It’s a gorgeous piece and reversible! The back side of the pendant is a lighter pink with no glitter. Depending on what I’m wearing, I either use the necklace the right way or face it the wrong way – two for one. With the sparkle side up, it's striking with a plaid dress like this pocket babydoll dress by Necessary Objects™. With the back side up, it's soft pink color lends such femininity to bold prints like this tube dress by As U Wish.
Regardless of which way I'm wearing it, what I love the most when I have it on is when admirers find out how much it is. The astonished look of disbelief is priceless. So if you want to unleash the little diva in you without spending like one, get this druzy little pendant and roar!
