MI Bag by Track+Field, $80
Track+Field is a new company based out of Philadelphia which seeks to revolutionize the modern day bag. The Spring 2007 collection line is made of Sunbrella®, a super-tough, weather-resistant fabric typically used in the construction of awnings and outdoor furniture. It is a fade-proof material that can withstand every element of weather without losing the vibrant color and style of each bag. This collection features many styles including backpacks, flight bags, messenger bags, record bags, and tote bags. There is a bag to fit every need of style-conscious active women who need bags that will measure up to the wear and tear of their busy lifestyles.
The Track+Field collection is designed by Bryan Poerner. By day, he is a sales representative for Puma and by night, he is one of the two front-guys for a hip-hop duo The Yah Mos Def. He started designing with the innovative fabric of Sunbrella® about two years ago when he was inspired at a trade show by these brightly striped patterns which he felt were perfect to make a durable city tote. He states he wanted to design bags for “People bored of boring and people tired of tired.”
We received the round Mi bag in Dupione Paradise from the Women's Bag collection. It is a vivid grass green with yellow heathered accents. The colors are perfect for spring and summer. It retails for $80 and is also available in Picadilly Primrose and Picadilly Seaspray.
The bag is very spacious inside but comes with different compartments that keep your belongings organized. I never have to dig frantically searching for my cell phone whenever it rings. Why? Because there is a perfect place for it on the side panel. There’s also a compartment that holds my lip gloss which sits right next to the cell phone. I no longer have to search around for the two most common things women pull out. And while the bag is quite spacious inside, it still holds the convenience of a purse.
This bag also comes with a cool dust cover. Not that you would really need it, because the Sunbrella® fabric keeps the stains and spots away. Whenever I take the bag off, I don’t stress over the possibility of getting it dirty. It’s so easy to just wipe clean and if you ever want to store the bag, there’s no need to worry about it losing its shape.
I also like the unique shape of the bag. It’s not one that can be easily found at your local mall. The shape is well-suited for my everyday activities because it’s casual for my day outings and convenient to take to work. The bag also fits well with my sports activities so there’s no need to switch bags when I go to softball games or the gym. Try it with this short sleeve french terry jacket and crop pants by Fila.
I recommend this bag for the “woman on the go.” Women who need to throw out their oversized granny totes and feel stylishly confident with a large bag that still carries all their everyday necessities.
