We received the Daisy Buchanan necklace from them. It is made of two strands of petal shaped amazonite and clear quartz beads strung from two strands of smoky coffee quartz teardrops. In between the petal quartz and the teardrops are 23k gold vermeil beads. The closure is a 14k gold filled toggle clasp. It retails for $250.
If you don’t know who Daisy Buchanan is, she is the object of Jay Gatsby’s quest in the classic 1920’s novel The Great Gatsby. She is haughty, privileged, stylish, beautiful, and popular.
What a perfect character to name after the necklace. It’s a striking piece that is bold in its enormity, excellent in its craftsmanship, a piece that flaunts confidence and demands coolness from its wearer. I was excited and eager to channel Daisy, her fashionable side that is, not the reckless side of course. I immediately went to my closet to search for outfits to match. After going through pretty much my entire wardrobe, I found the top two ways to wear and show off my Daisy Buchanan.
First, is to let it be the star of the whole outfit. Don’t wear any other pieces of jewelry, let it stand on its own and believe me it will. Pair it with a dress or a top that shows off your neckline like this silk chiffon dress by Samantha Treacy or this stripe hankie hem silk dress by Shelli Segal. It’s an absolutely gorgeous accessory and one that prettifies the simplest of dresses. It breathed new life into some of my more basic outfits.
Second, is to give it a supporting role. When you wear it with a button down shirt, like this luxe shirt by Theory, all you see is a hint of the amazonite and clear quartz peeking out of the shirt. This style is so effortlessly chic and one that you can easily take from business meeting to dinner out at night. I didn’t think I’d be able to pull off wearing my Daisy Buchanan to the office but when you give it a supporting role, it really shines.
