Dahlia Gold Shoulder Bag by amykathryn, $84
Growing up with designing women, Amy Hall could not help but absorb the knowledge and talent around her, and soon recognized she too had the same propensity across various artistic mediums.
Originally from Phoenix, Amy earned a BA in Art History from the University of Arizona. In 1999, she opened the Peterson-Hall Gallery in Scottsdale with her brother Gary Hall Jr., who is a 10-time Olympic Medalist in swimming. The Peterson-Hall Gallery carried a diverse and unique collection of museum-quality furniture and art.
Ultimately, Amy decided to focus on her design talent and moved to Los Angeles to attend the Otis College of Art and Design. Her desire to incorporate her love of Italian printed fabric in accessories led to the launching of the amykathryn handbags label in 2002.
What makes amykathryn handbags so unique is Amy's use of her signature custom design printed ultra suede fabric, that is uniquely incorporated into each bag's design.
Today, the amykathryn label is sold in over 50 boutiques worldwide with celebrity clients including Pink, Nelly Furtado, Jessica Simpson, Ashley Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Vanessa Williams, Rachel Leigh Cook, Gabrielle Union, Lisa Rinna and Hilary Duff.
amykathryn take prides in being an eco-conscious and animal-friendly line. In addition, amykathryn contributes to several charities including The Grammy's MusiCares Foundation, the Gary Hall Jr. Diabetes Foundation and the Diabetes Research Institute.
We received the Dahlia Gold Shoulder Bag from amykathryn's Spring '07 collection. It has a satin interior black lining, a zip compartment, 2 open pockets, and top zip closure. It retails for $84 and is also available in black.
I love this uber chic bag. How do I love it? Let me count the ways.
I love its shape, especially the distinctive lovely contour in the bottom.
I love its color, a gorgeous matte gold with a light sheen. Metallics are hot this season but the fusion of the metallic and the suede is even hotter!
I love the custom printed ultra suede, which by the way, is on both sides of the purse. It looks exclusive, a modish touch that everyone seems to notice. A detail not captured in the photo is the color of the gold print in the suede. In the photo it looks washed out but in person, it is a vivid matte gold with the slightest hint of shimmer.
I love the length of the shoulder drop. It is adjustable but I like it exactly as it was configured when I received it. It lets the purse fit perfectly under my arms where I can cradle it close to my side.
I love that it’s trendy but classic enough to last through many seasons. I'm thinking I'll wear mine through spring and in the summer time, in the fall, in the winter.
I love that it’s so affordable. How many designer bags can you purchase for less than a hundred dollars?
I love the compliments I receive wearing it. Show it off with this linen halter dress by Magg London or this knit jumper by Gibson and let the rave comments pour in.
Lastly, I love that with amykathryn contributing to several charities, purchasing from their label makes shoppers feel like they’re contributing as well, and that makes spending money feel good.
So, if you’ve been looking for a new bag, look no further than amykathryn. With their charitable contributions, the least you can do is splurge. Then you can start counting how many ways you love your amykathryn bag.
