JESS DOES COUNTRY, TEXAS STYLE?

Jessica Simpson made her official country music debut this weekend at the Country Thunder USA showcase in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin on July 19. Sorry Jess, wearing cowboy boots non-stop will not make you a successful country star- give your tootsies a break! Before the show, Jessica hung out backstage with boy-toy Tony Romo while flaunting a Willie Nelson tee – also not a great way to convince skeptical fans you are a “real” country music star. Onstage, Jess rocked a clean country look, starting with those tarnished tan cowboy boots, a crisp white button down tee (try 3J Workshop’s Merenda Shirt in White), and frayed short-shorts (check out True Religion’s Josie Big T Short in Light Lovestruck if you dare, or Denim of Virtue’s Daisy Duke Shorts in Joy Grey to add some color). Jess added a flashy silver belt (Nyovee’s Navarinon Belt in White has a similar Western studded design), and gaudy turquoise jewelry (check out Lisa K’s Greece Necklace in Gold for a more elegant look that still adds a dash of color), making her ensemble a tad overdone but hey, it is country after all. Jessica’s new album won’t be released until September, so she gave fans a taste with a few new songs and filled in the rest of the show with some classic country covers. Apparently no one was convinced – the local papers said she was heckled and booed as she took the stage. Jess fought back with a very honest plea to her audience: "I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas; I'm just like you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy." Jessica’s transition to the country music scene has also been clouded by rumors that a sex tape with Nick Lachey has fallen into the hands of the same pervs that released the Pam Anderson-Tommy Lee tape a few years back. Talk about scandalous, especially when you recall Jessica’s claims of saving herself for marriage! I’m sure her lawyers (not to mention her overbearing father) are hard at work keeping this one under wraps. What will Romo think?

JEWEL'S WORDS OF ADVICE

Jessica Simpson was spotted celebrating her 28th birthday with friends at a lunch at Jinky's Cafe in Sherman Oaks on July 10, going all out in her country girl attire by donning a straw hat and cowboy boots. For the rest of her ensemble, Jess chose a patterned mini dress (check out Tricia Fix's Betsey Mini Dress in Grey or Black Halo's Detailed Bodice Dress in Print for similar frocks) along with gold-rimmed shades, a silver disk necklace (check out Christie Martin Jewelry's Single Disk Necklace in Sterling Silver, which can hold as many disks as you see fit) and a Free City hoodie that she carried along. When Jessica announced that her next album would be a country one and that she wants to "get back to her roots," many people thought this was just one big huge recipe for disaster. Folk singer Jewel is now speaking out about Jessica's potential country career, and says, "I really like Jessica. She's always been such a sweet, sweet person. If I were going to give her any advice, I would say work hard and be authentic. Be true to who you are." She continues, the thing about country music is its fans have an excellent authenticity meter. They can spot bulls**t a mile away. Anyone who comes to country music just to dabble in it, or who doesn't know it or respect it as a genre and respect its history and tradition, is not going to make it." STILL SMITTEN WITH ROMO

Jessica Simpson was snapped leaving a filming of "The View" on June 25 in Las Vegas, sporting her signature big, blonde main... but I just have to say, those roots are killing me! Where are you Mr. Paves? Now the Jess has decided to go the full-on country route, she sported a patriotic red, white and blue patchwork frock for her appearance on the show. If you are looking for a dress that is a little more sophisticated, yet still playful, check out Walter's Poppy Print Dress in Pink or Vanitas' Strapless Flared Mini Dress in Floral. Jess finished off her look with a pair of hoops (like Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Hoops with Diamond Gem Dangle in Red) and grey peeptoe platforms. POP MUSIC NO MORE

Well we haven't seen Jessica Simpson's mug around these parts lately! J.Simp was seen leaving dinner at Nobu in NYC last night, June 10, and girl was definitely not, how do I say, looking her best. With roots out to there (where are you, Ken Paves?) and looking like she did at her heaviest point, Jess has definitely come a long way from the fresh-faced America's sweetheart that we once knew her as. Simpson stepped out in a diasy-hued frock (dresses like Ella Moss' Piper Dress in Daisy, Betsey Johnson's Convertible Ruffle Dress in Gold, and Shumaq's Allison Dress in Acid Yellow are all similar), an interesting patchwork clutch, an armful of gold and silver bangles and a pair of awful shoes. Hey, I know I'm being a little harsh on J.Simp, but honestly... don't you agree? While we all know that Jess is releasing an entirely country album very soon, it is news to me that Jessica has sworn off recording pop music forever (or until her country career fails). Jess says, "I’m planning on making country (music) for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to go back to that other world. A lit of people have listened to [my new single], 'Come On Over,' and told me, ‘I really wanted to hate it, but I like it.’ (It’s) a backhanded compliment, but I’m glad it’s that way and not the other way around. I take a lot of pride in my talent and in the record I was able to put together. I’m not giving up." Such dedication! Jess' reaction to Ashlee's engagement

We haven't seen much of Jessica Simpson on CoutureCandy lately due to that whole "hospitalized for her kidney infection" situation, but Jess was seen leaving Hollywood hotspot Foxtail with BFF Ken Paves on April 12, and was nothing but smiles for the waiting paparazzi. Wearing a simple blue frock (I love Lotta Stensson's Cowl Halter Dress in Peacock and Karen Zambos' Cinched Waist Dress in Teal and Beige, which come in similar colors to Jess' dress) with brown gladiator heels, Jess accessorized with a matching bag (check out E.D.E. Studios' Savannah Tote in Brown and gold drop earrings (Jessica Elliot's Blossom Earrings in Vermeil are similar). While I'm pretty sure you already know that Jess' little sis Ashlee is not engaged (and rumored to be preggers too) to Pete Wentz, Jessica has given Pete her stamp of approval. She says, "My sister is overflowing with joy. Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn’t be happier." Aww! Papa Joe also made a statement, saying, "Pete did ask me. I told him that I would be honored to have him as part of my family." So what do you think, are Pete and Ashlee only getting married so due to the fact that she is pretty much 100% pregnant?

Simplistic simpson

Jessica Simpson was once again spotted alongside Tony Romo, this time jet setting from LAX on Sunday, March 2, keeping it simple on her recent departure from Los Angeles this past Sunday. On the bottom, Jessica kept it comfortable and casual in a pair of boot cut dark denim jeans (just like James Jeans' James 5 Pocket Slim Boot Jean in Graphite). Jess continued her simple look on top with a hooded sweater (similar to Kushcush's Samantha Hoodie in Silver) and oversized button up jacket. Simpson accessorized with a pair of ruby colored sunglasses (check out JeeVice Optics' Evil in Red ) and large gold hoop earrings (check out Lana Jewelry's Miami Earrings in Yellow Gold ). After spending her Saturday evening at hip Hollywood spot Teddy's Lounge alongside stylist Jessica Pastor and beau Tony Romo, where Lindsay Lohan was also seen, Simpson awoke early to make her flight. Later this week, Simpson is scheduled to fly out to Kuwait to perform for the troops which will air on Myspace. Simpson said once she returns to Los Angeles, she's back in the studio to begin working on her new album. Haven't having a hit in years, it will be interesting if Jessica still has the fan base and "it" appeal to produce a successful album. What do you think, does Jessica have it in her to produce another hit album or will it be a flop for J.Simp?

a simpson slash romo rendezvous?

Jessica Simpson was seen departing from LAX on Wednesday, February 13, keeping her look casual for her first class flight. While we're unable to tell which shoes Jessica actually wore under her pair of wide leg dark denim (just like James Jeans' Robyn High Rise Wide Leg in Zeus), on top Jess stayed comfortable with a relaxed fit cashmere top under an over-sized cropped white cardigan (check out Autumn Cashmere's Draped Cardigan in Bisque). Jessica hauled a giant white leather tote (similar to Dutchy Handbags' Button Tote in Bone) in order to carry on all of her beauty and flying essentials, and made sure to protect her eyes with a pair of oversized black sunglasses (check out Nour's Baba in Oro Bianco). Jessica completed her look by accessorizing in gold bangles (similar to Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Alligator Bangle in Gold) along with a pair of over-sized gold hoop earrings. No word on where Jessica's ultimate destination was, but it could very well to be to go see boy of the moment Tony Romo, just in time for Valentine's Day. Romo flew out of Los Angeles just a day earlier, so it's safe to assume the pair were spending quality time together earlier in the week. It seems that Romo has gotten the Simpson stamp of approval, as US Weekly asked Ashlee on her thoughts about Romo, and she replied, "I love him! [I'm] absolutely happy! He is really cool." Fall Out Boy frontman, and Ashlee's beau, Pete Wentz added "He is a cool dude." Who knows whether Romo is just a rebound after John Mayer, or if he is actually here to stay? What do you think, does Tony have lasting power or will be pushed under the rug faster than you can say "Blonde Ambition straight to DVD"?

Let's hope this is just a rumor...

Jessica Simpson was spotted dining at Kuma in Los Angeles on January 11, 2008, flashing that toothy grin that she is know for as she departed from the eatery. Who her dining companion was for the evening is a mystery, but one thing that is for sure is the fact that Jessica got her style right for the night. In an outfit that is (thankfully) a little more low-key than her usual looks, Jess dressed up a pair of wide leg dark denim (like Deener's High Waist Wide Leg Jean in Carbon) with a white knitted jacket (check out Laura Dahl's Keats Jacket in Winter White) and long sleeve black top. A longtime fan of leopard print, Jess accessorized her look with a leopard scarf, in addition to a rust-colored leather bag (similar to Carla Mancini's Whipstitched Tote with Front Pockets in Rust). She also toted along an old school BlackBerry (hello clickwheel!), possibly to text her beau Tony Romo. Speaking of Mr. Romo, here is a news article to file under the "please do not let this happen!" category. Allegedly, Jessica is set on recording a duet with Tony for her upcoming country album. Oh the humanity! It seems that Simpson had the bright idea to ask Romo to duet with her, and it is not known whether or not he even has a good voice. Good one, Jess! A source says, "Jessica has been schooled in publicity tricks by her manager dad, Joe, and she knows that a duet with Tony will attract major attention." Now, whether it's good attention or not, you know what they say... there's no such thing as bad publicity!

Jess is full of regret

Jessica Simpson was spotted out and about in New York on November 14, sporting a look that will probably not get Jess on PETA's good side. Wearing a cozy looking white sweater dress (like Bellekat's Maxine Sweater Dress in Cloud) with tall caramel-colored boots and a snakeskin bag (if you love this look, check out Carla Mancini's Python Clutch), Jess was protected by a big, burly bodyguard for the night (check out that massive hand coming in on the side of the photo!). While there have been reports recently that Jess has started dating notorious ladies man Tony Romo (and was set up by Papa Joe, no less!), US Weekly is reporting that this Simpson sister is still full of regret regarding her split from Nick Lachey nearly two years ago. A source claims, "There are definitely parts of her that regret breaking up with Nick now. Jessica spent October 26, what would have been her fifth wedding anniversary, looking through old photo albums that she made when she was with Nick...she said she was just being "girlie," but she was definitely somber." The source continues, "Jessica thought she would be with someone serious by now." I hate to say it, but this girl really does seem unlucky in love! Jess gets star struck

Jessica Simpson was spotted leaving her hotel in New York on November 3, as she is in town promoting her new fashion line. Waving to the paps and grinning from ear to ear, Jess wore an eye-catching leopard print jacket (check out Bellekat's cropped Jocelyn Animal Jacket in Leopard) or Karen Zambos' Simpson-esque Chiffon Blouse in Leopard) with big shades (like Nour's Moman Sunglasses in Street), tall leather boots and brought along a bright red leather bag (similar to Antoinette Lee Designs' Anna Stitch Tote in Cherry). While Jess has been in New York, she has been filling in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck who is on maternity leave on "The View", and one of her first celebrity interviews was Angelena Jolie. Jess says, "The first time I co-hosted on ‘The View’ I had to interview Angelina Jolie. I was really, really star struck; in awe of her beauty… She’s amazing.” See, even celebrities get star struck! Jess has been in NYC for a while making appearances for her handbag and shoe collection, and also might be taking a second look at some of the apartments she looked at the last time she was in the city. If she moved there, do you think Jess would cut it in New York?

Jessica gets caught up in NY

Jessica Simpson was spotted making quite the exit from dinner at the Waverly Inn in New York with BFF/ex-assistant Cacee Cobb on October 2, sporting a monster bruise on her right leg, allegedly a side-effect of filming her upcoming picture, Major Movie Star. Wearing a long-sleeved silk dress (like Bellekat's Victoria Dress in Black) with silver hoops (similar to Rebecca Norman's Large Hammered Hoops in Silver) and carrying a Valentino gift wrap-esque clutch, Jess was looking good, although she might wanna cool it with that trout pout! The day after her extravagant dinner with Cacee, she was in New York checking out properties and taking tours of swanky apartment buildings with her best bud. It seems that the girls got a little carried away because while they were looking at all of Jess' potential places (BTW, thought on Jessica relocating to NY?), allegedly the buxom blonde missed her flight back to LA. While for me, Jessica flip flops between being cute and being annoying, and I think now I'm leaning to thinking Jessica is cute again. She just needs to take some time out of the spotlight every once in a while (like she's been doing lately) and that'll make the public want her more. Take note Britney Spears, a little time out of the limelight is a good thing!

she's going country, y'all!

As she said her goodbyes to New York on September 9 as she left Fashion Week, Jessica Simpson finally hit a sweet note when it comes to her style. Occasionally falling prey to having a sort of cheesy, tacky, matchy-matchy fashion sense, Jessica stunned as she stepped out in wide straight leg jeans (like Aristocrat's Windsor Jean in Tristin), tortoise shell shades (similar to Nour's Kiara Sunglasses in Oro), a striped scarf and a textured bag in a vibrant shade of yellow (Antoinette Lee Designs' Vita Python Emboss Clutch in Saffron and the edgier Lua Python Emboss Clutch in Saffron are both bright yellow bags guaranteed to turn a few heads, just like Jessica's). Reports are circulating now that Jess is going to ditch the pop ballads she is known for on her next album, and instead get back to her Texas roots with a country album. Papa Joe Simpson has said that Jess is "talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas. Everything in our business is about beats and I think she really wants to sing, and country music still believes in that." Interesting… very interesting. I have a feeling Jess might just be more successful singing country, considering she truly has only had moderate success with her recording career so far. Can't wait to her her moaning and growing about her cheatin' ex in that Texas twang of hers!

Jess is going green- with envy!

Well well well… Jessica Simpson is definitely back with a bang! Spotted dining with friend and hairstylist Ken Paves on August 26, Jessica flaunted her newly svelte figure and her undeniable assets for a casual night on the town. Wearing Maya Brenner Designs' Texas Pendant in Gold to represent her true love for her home state, along with a white tank (like Signorelli's Spring Tank in Shimmer), dark bootcut jeans (similar to Pierce Jeans' Venice Justin Bootcut Jean in Dark Wash) and Sang A's Jade Clutch, Jessica looked true to her country-girl style in a basic outfit of jeans and a tank. As we all know, Jess and John Mayer visited splitsville recently, and Jess is allegedly super jealous over the fact that John is now reportedly seeing Cameron Diaz (but, for arguments sake, who isn't Cameron Diaz reportedly seeing right now?). Sources say that even though Jess is putting on the "I'm-so-over-him" façade, that "she had her mouth open a mile wide when she found out. She just freaked. Jess thinks about him all the time; she is so not over him." Don't worry Jess, you look hot again… and John is probably just Cameron's flavor of the month- if that!

ouch! jess breaks her nose on set of film

Jessica Simpson was spotted on the set of her new film Major Movie Star on August 16, once again looking like she did way back when she was on "Newlyweds" with Nick and all of America loved her. Wearing a cute blue dress (Ella Moss' Natalie Slip Cami Dress in Peacock is similar, as is LaROK's nautical inspired One Pocket World Top in Enamel) and carrying a leather bag (like Carla Mancini's Messenger Bag in Caramel), all eyes were actually on one other part of Jessica in particular- her nose. Reports are now out that Jess broke her nose while filming a scene of the new film, as Jess said that she was "running with a gun over my head and fell over and broke my nose, it really hurt!" Ouch! So now it seems that Jess is going to be paying a visit to the same plastic surgeon who re-did little sister Ashlee's sniffer, even though Jess has said in the past that "there are a lot of girls with a similar body to mine, but my nose is special and unique to me." Hmm… I wonder if this whole thing is a convenient way for Jessica to get a nose job without the public thinking she's being insecure and superficial. What do you think?
